Privacy Policy for Flashy
Last updated: 5 October 2026
Flashy does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. Your decks, cards, and handwriting stay on your device. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind.
What stays on your device
Everything you create in Flashy — decks, cards, typed text, handwritten drawings, and your review schedule — is stored in a private database on your device. None of it is uploaded anywhere unless you switch on Drive sync yourself, and that sends it to your own Google Drive rather than to us. The developer has no access to it and no way to obtain it.
Uninstalling Flashy deletes that database along with the app.
Purchases
Flashy connects to Google Play to ask what this installation has paid for, and to show the correct prices in your currency.
Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play. Flashy never sees or stores your payment details, and the developer receives no personal information about you as part of a purchase. Google's handling of that transaction is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Google Drive sync, if you turn it on
Flashy can sync your library between your own devices through your own Google Drive. It is off until you connect an account, and it only ever runs when you press the sync button.
When it is on, Flashy writes one compressed file — your decks, cards, review schedules and preferences — into a folder it creates in your Drive. That folder is in your Drive account, not ours. There is no Flashy account, no server of ours in the middle, and the developer cannot see the file or the folder.
Flashy asks Google for a single permission,
drive.file, which covers only the files this app itself
created. It cannot see, list, or read anything else in your Drive.
Disconnecting the account from Flashy's settings revokes that permission.
Files already written stay in your Drive until you delete them, the same
as any other file you own.
Android permissions
Flashy requests these, and nothing else:
INTERNETandACCESS_NETWORK_STATE— to reach Google Play for purchases, and your Drive if you have connected it.com.android.vending.BILLING— to make a purchase through Google Play.POST_NOTIFICATIONSandVIBRATE— to show the reminder that cards are due, if you ask for one.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED— so a reminder you have already scheduled survives restarting the phone.USE_BIOMETRICandUSE_FINGERPRINT— required by Google's own sign-in library, and used only if you choose to connect Drive. Flashy itself never asks for your fingerprint or face.
It requests no access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone, photos, or files.
Backups and exports
Flashy can export your decks or a full backup to a file. This only ever happens when you ask for it, and you choose where the file is saved. The file is written to the location you pick and is sent nowhere. Importing works the same way in reverse — you choose a file, and it is read on your device.
What Flashy does not do
- No Flashy account and no Flashy sign-in
- No analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers
- No third-party trackers or SDKs beyond Google Play's billing library and, if you connect Drive, Google's sign-in and Drive libraries
- No selling or sharing of data, because none is collected
Children
Flashy is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at this address with an updated date above. Material changes will be reflected in the app's Google Play listing.
